Biography

Raoul John Barrientos was called home by the Lord into eternal rest on June 4, 2008 with his family by his side. He was born in Hondo, TX on April 14, 1942 and is preceded in death by his mother, Felicitas Lopez and father, Raul Barrientos. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Mary Ann Barrientos; children, John Anthony & wife Marci, Nadine & husband Riyad, Rodney & wife Peggy and Monica Barrientos; grandchildren, Andrew, Michael, Elyssa, Alaya, Brianna and Joseph; sister, Veronica Salazar. He graduated from San Antonio Academy, Texas Military Institute and also earned a full baseball scholarship to Texas A&M University. After marrying in 1962, he started his insurance and investment career by founding The Barrientos Group. As an insurance broker, he proudly services his clients with the utmost care and professionalism. A loving husband, father and grandfather, “Papo” had a contagious sense of humor and an unconditional passion for his grandchildren, baseball and music. The visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M. on Friday, June 6, 2008 with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 P.M. at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 North Loop 1604 East, (between Hwy 281 and Stone Oak Parkway). The funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday, June 7, 2008 at 1:30 P.M. at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1602 Thousand Oaks, with Rev. Steve White as celebrant.
